AOP Awards 2007
04/10/2007
At the AOP online publishing awards 2007 held at London Hilton, Park Lane last night - the Chairman's 'achievement' award was presented to i-level founders, Charlie Dobres (above right) and Andrew Walmsley (above left). It's the first time that this award has been given to anyone other than a media owner.
Simon Waldeman, AOP Chairman and Group Director of digital strategy and development, Guardian Media Group, said, "In this case, we believe it is just recognition for two people who have played a vital role in the growth of the UK's online publishing industry and the development of our digital media landscape. Charlie and Andrew launched their agency in 1999 - and they have been champions of digital media since the earliest days. Even in the darkest days of the dotcom downturn, they continued to bang the drum for the effectiveness and importance of online advertising. As the market has returned - and i-level has grown accordingly - the agency has remained a beacon of intelligent digital media planning, staying true to the founders' original vision.
"Their work over the last decade has made a lasting impact on a media sector that we have all collectively been trying to build. And for that reason, they deserve acknowledgement from the UK's digital publishing industry." Waldeman added.
The AOP Awards, now in its sixth year, are designed to celebrate and reward excellence in all aspects of digital publishing and are established as a showcase of the most innovative and high-quality online content in the UK.
