Charlie Dobres, the co-founder of digital agency i-level, is to step down from the day-to-day running of the company. The former chief executive of PHD Worldwide, David Pattison, has been hired to take his place.

The management reshuffle marks an important step for i-level, which counts Orange, the AA and BSkyB as clients, as one of the most successful independent digital-media agencies in the UK.

Dobres, who co-founded the agency in 1999 alongside deputy chairman Andrew Walmsley, will take a non-executive advisory role to "pursue various other personal projects and ideas, including some work in the not-for-profit sector".

Mr Pattison, who resigned as the chief executive of media agency network PHD Worldwide last year, will take the role of chief executive of ILG Digital, the holding company for i-level and the Generator Consulting business.

Following the appointment of Mr Pattison, ILG - which also counts Bartle Bogle Hegarty co-founder John Bartle as a non-executive chairman - aims to expand internationally and launch new services.
