Orange wanted to build awareness of its Animals pay-as-you-go tariffs. Players chose a virtual balloon and on 24th June these were set loose on the internet. The owner of the balloon that covered the most web pages in seven days won a £16,000 holiday to Ibiza. Racers used a 3D map to work out where to fly to next and travelled further and faster if nudged by friends using a social media mechanic. More than 500,000 users visited the balloon site and 15,000 widgets were installed on social media sites.
