A high level of market awareness is required for this role. Planner/Buyers identify clients’ needs and objectives and deliver creative and innovative digital media solutions.

Principle tasks & responsibilities

  • Assisting Planner/Buyers in the development of digital media advertising plans
  • Supporting Planner/Buyers in negotiations with media owners
  • Implementation of tracking requirements for each campaign
  • Collation and preparation of campaign performance statistics
  • Ongoing analysis and interpretation of campaign data to assess performance
  • Optimisation of the media activity through discussions with media owners
  • Assisting with the preparation and communication of campaign reports to clients
  • Assisting prompt and accurate implementation of all media processes

Practitioner Skills

Planning

Ability to liase closely with the Planner/Buyer to produce creative and innovative digital media solutions. This involves having a high level of market awareness, the ability to identify important trends and spot new digital media opportunities.

Buying

Ability to assist the Planner/Buyer to deliver planned activity through negotiation of cost-effective and appropriately placed media within appropriate sites.

Set-up and monitoring of campaigns

This is the trainee’s prime area of responsibility - to ensure that appropriate tracking is in place for each campaign and that statistics are collected and interpreted as often as appropriate.

Written Communication

All written work should be of a professional standard

Administration and Protocol

Observing appropriate protocols throughout the planning and buying process.

Able to make bookings on the appropriate system in a timely fashion, usually within 24 hours

Able to represent i-level in a professional manner through quality of communication, ideas and personal presentation standards

Media: Planner/Buyer

Personnel: Account Manager

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (suitable experience and/or ability can substitute for this)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of numeracy
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Effective organisational abilities
  • Presentable and personable
  • Enthusiasm, stamina, determination and perseverance
  • Good knowledge of general office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent grasp of internet software - browsers, operating systems etc.
