Pensioners are bigger surfers than teens

UK silver surfers now spend 42 hours a month on the internet compared with 18-24-year-olds (37.9 hours), according to Ofcom’s annual Communications Market Report. The over-65s accounted for 9% of all time spent online in the UK. In the 25-49 age group, women outstripped men as the main internet users. Shopping and parenting sites were popular among this group. Children spend less time on games but more on mobiles and the internet. New habits are also emerging - more people are making phone calls on the internet, listening to the radio via satellite TV and watching TV via mobiles.
