Ad spend grows at fastest rate in seven years

Riding on a wave of increased marketing budgets and robust growth in ad spend for the second successive quarter, the latest IPA Bellwether Report highlights internet advertising as the one area registering the strongest growth at 6% of all marketing spend. One-in-five companies now allocate at least 10% of their total spend to the internet. Meanwhile, a forecast by Aegis media agency Carat, predicts that UK ad spend will grow by 4.1% this year and 3.9% in 2008 on the back of heavy digital investment. The expected 4.1% UK growth is nearly triple the 1.4% actual growth in 2006 and is now back in line with growth across Europe, which is forecast to ease from 4.4% in 2006 to 4.1% in 2007.
