Virtual worlds are the new building blocks

Sony plans to launch its new Home PS3 online network in October. Edging on Second Life’s turf, online gamers can create their own characters and shop for clothes, furniture and videos. Users can also chill out in their own virtual apartments while playing games on a virtual flat-screen. The world will also feature advertising billboards. About 50,000 users will help test the closed beta phase version.

The time spent by children online has also convinced Lego to move their building blocks to a virtual world. The company plans to create an online multiplayer game in a virtual world.
