Samsung to build Android phones by 2009
01/03/2008
The first phones based on Google’s Android operating system will be built by Samsung and available to the public by 2009. The company made the announcement at the recent Mobile World Congress. Android is unique in that it aims to deliver a complete set of software for mobile devices: an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications. The Android Software Development Kit is now available. It aims to help developers break down barriers to building innovative applications – for example an application could be built enabling users to view the location of their friends and be alerted when they are in the vicinity giving them a chance to connect. At the same conference, Samsung also announced that it will have four or five Wi-Max phones for sale later this year. Wi-Max is a wireless technology similar to Wi-Fi but with longer range and stronger signals.Read Endgadget report
