Google tops Superbrands list

01/03/2008

Google has beaten Microsoft and BBC Worldwide to become the top UK brand in the annual Superbrands league tables, an independent survey by 1,500 professionals. It is the only brand in the top 50 to have begun operations after 1990. Most of the top 5 brands have been around for close to a century. BBC Worldwide which took the top spot last year moved down to fourth place. Microsoft remained at second place. The top positions are usually taken by traditional British names such as BA, BP and Rolls Royce.  It is also typical for companies of UK origin only, like GlaxoSmithKline, to make the top ten.
