Google is, by internet standards, a martyr company and as the corporation loses its kooky 'dot-com beanbags and diet coke' image, it also seems to have lost some of it's most talented workers who have gone in search of start-ups in order to exercise their entrepreneurial muscles. Since Google's share price reached a record high at the end of June, it suggests that the stock simply does not offer the same potential gain as perhaps a strong internet start-up offering riches from a stock offering or a buy-out.

Stats - Social Networking

While 20% of regular Internet users worldwide had visited a social networking site in the previous 30 days, the figure was highest in South Korea - 55%, followed by Brazil, China and then the US with 24%, according to Ipsos Insight's annual study "The Face of the Web". The Ipsos study also claims that 34% of worldwide Internet users have watched a TV show or other video stream online, up from 31% a year earlier. However, this same growth was not seen in online music.
