Creating the online lexicon

The man who brought Bebo back from the dead, Michael Birch, has put his well-filled wallet behind the online dictionary wordia.com. The site claims that it will “redefine the dictionary” allowing users to upload their own videos explaining what a word means to them. Searching for a word may be tricky at the moment, as the simplest of words such as “dictionary”, have yet to be defined. Wordia has already partnered with Collins Dictionaries, the National Literacy Trust and the Open University and are also looking to partner with other online dictionaries. It aims to be in a position to compete with the likes of Wikipedia within the next five years.
