Fidel, it’s for you

Another kind of revolution in Cuba: the island’s inhabitants are able to use mobile phones for the first time in their history. Cellular phone services were previously only open to government officials and foreigners, so locals were forced to use their phones illegally or to beg tourists to help them make calls. Now new president Raul Castro has eased the restrictions. However, the service is still prohibitive for most Cubans, costing the equivalent of nine months’ pay for the average wage earner.
