It was bound to happen: a collection of Wikipedia articles will appear in printed form. In Germany, publisher Bertelsmann is to publish the ‘One Volume Wikipedia Encyclopaedia’.  Wikipedia plans to ‘capture the zeitgeist’ of a particular year by printing a selection of 25,000 of its most popular entries: for example, popular topics for 2008 include the new French first lady, Carla Sarkozy.
