Paid Search results based on user history
01/08/2007
And while people can't stop connecting with people, Google has discovered a new way to connect and keep track of people and their search interests as well.
You no longer have to be logged into Google Personalised (or anything else Google) in order to get customised paid search results from Google. The search engine has tested out something that bases your paid results on your immediately previous search.
It does not require cookies, as it just uses the URL that your last search came from. Obviously this means you have to perform the two searches one after the other, and not leave the site in between. For example - if you search for "broadband" - you will end up on a URL that reads http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=broadband&meta=- Google then takes this as your referral for the next search, so if you then enter a city name such as Leeds - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=leeds&meta=you get a combination of paid search results split between "Leeds" and "broadband."
